Marek Hamsik has hinted that he will stay at Napoli this summer. “It would be a great honour to play for a Coach like Carlo Ancelotti.”
Hamsik had been linked with a lucrative switch to China, but the Napoli captain appears to have had a change of heart following Ancelotti’s appointment, suggesting the Partenopei went as far as they could under Maurizio Sarri.
“There’s been nothing in the last few days, I know nothing new about my future,” he told the Slovakian media.
“I’m still a Napoli player. I have a contract for three more years. Ancelotti? We spoke on the phone, and it would be a great honour to play for a Coach like him.
“President De Laurentiis has brought someone in who has won so much, and that makes me happy. When a person is used to winning, they bring a winning mentality with them.
“Sarri? He worked very well, the team grew a lot under him, but perhaps it comes to a point when you can’t give more.
“We mustn’t forget the great work he did, but big clubs often change Coaches every three years so let’s not make a song and dance about it. Luckily, the president brought in a great Coach.”
