Claudio Ranieri insists he doesn’t know his next club after leaving Nantes – “if something nice comes along then I’ll think about it”.

The Italian will leave by mutual consent at the end of the season, and has been linked with jobs in both Serie A and the Premier League.

“Nothing, I know nothing,” Ranieri insisted in his farewell Press conference.

“I’ll take the time to relax, and if something nice comes along then I’ll think about it.

“They’ve written a lot of things in England and Italy, but it’s not true. I’m waiting, I’m calm, and we’ll see.

Ranieri also reflected on his time in Brittany, ahead of the final match with Strasbourg on Saturday.

“I hope the players play a great match to salute the supporters, who have been fantastic with them all season.

“I think it was a good season, the first half was fantastic and after I’d say – everyone would say – it was very difficult to finish fifth but we were very, very close.

“Throughout my career I’ve always said that at the end of the season you finish where you deserve. Therefore where we finish is what we deserve.

“I think it’s important for everyone to stay focused. I always said that I would stay, now the President and I have decided to say farewell.

“At the end of the final match the relationship will come to an end. It’s been very nice, and I’m content.

“Had I told the players? Yes, this morning.

“It’s not a decision I made this morning, it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.

“I repeat, I had a good relationship with the President – with everyone here, everyone has been fantastic, they’ve allowed me and my staff to work well.

“I’d give my players the Ballon d’Or for sacrifice, for work. For me it’s very important that my players give everything, in training and in the match.

“I’m content if we don’t play so well, but we give everything, if I see them giving their all in training.

“After that you can play well, or you can play badly because they’re not machines. But with the players the relationship was fantastic. Fantastic.”
